2024 bond

On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Sergeant Bluff-Luton voters rejected the one-question bond referendum in the amount of $54,600,000. Following the vote, the unofficial election results are 1886 YES (55.5%) and 1510 NO (44.5%).

Superintendent Chad Janzen expressed his gratitude to the community for their support:

“Although the bond failed, we are encouraged by the 55.5% yes votes. This is the first bond that more than half the district approved. The results tell us the district is on the right path towards a successful proposal. I am deeply grateful for the dedication and efforts of our staff and community members who shared their hopes and ideas for SBL facilities throughout the past two years of planning. Your engagement and belief in our mission to provide safe, healthy buildings and relevant learning spaces have been invaluable. Thank you.”

Janzen added, “While the bond didn’t succeed, we remain committed to our long-term plan, developed with community input. The district has received many positive comments on this plan and the desire to provide the quality education and learning environments our community expects and our students deserve. We will continue seeking solutions that address our facilities' needs and reflect the shared values and investment our community has in its schools.”
