This will be the final Sunday email for this school year and also from me.  Lots of last happening this week for me.  Last Sunday email, my youngest son graduates from high school today, and this is my last week of school at SB-L.  If I can pass on any advise it would be this...keep your children close and be a part of their lives.  The time goes by in the blink of an eye.

Here is a rundown of this week:

Monday - Dr. McCrory's Hot Dog BBQ (Always a favorite of students!)

Tuesday - Last day of specials; PBIS activites in the afternoon.  It's looking like rain on Tuesday so these will be indoors.

Wednesday - Field day activites in the morning (bring waterbottle & wear tennis shoes); classroom activities in the afternoon

Thursday - 1:00 Dismissal

Please look for any missing library books or recorders (4th grade) and turn them in as soon as possible.  Students will be charged for lost/missing items.

We are asking for feedback from parents about our PBIS Warrior Way system.  If you have 3-5 minutes please click here and answer a few questions about your knowledge of the Warrior Way.  Names and emails will not be collected.

Check out all the great things happening at the Sergeant Bluff Public Library this summer.  Mrs. Torgerson has events planned for the whole summer.  All the flyers and calendars can be found in this folder.  The library is located at 503 4th Street next to City Hall.  If you haven't been there, stop in and take a look around.  All elementary students have a library card.

The Siouxland Y is offering a summer camp in Sgt. Bluff June 3 through July 26.  See attached flyer for more information.  You can also sign up for Little Warriors Y Club for next school year if you want your child to attend before and after school.  See this flyer for more information.

End of School Year Tips for Parents:

TAKE A PHOTO WALK: Gather photos taken during the school year and invite your child to help you arrange the photos in sequence, from left (beginning of school) to right (end of school).  You might ask: Do you think you look different now than when you started school?  How have you changed?

TIPS FOR PREVENTING THE SUMMER SLIDE: See attached information on how you can help your child prevent the summer slide - or even accelerate reading growth.

To My SB-L Families,

The last day of school...the closing of one door and the opening of another.  I want to thank each child and their parents for all the warmth, the memories, and the learning that we have shared this school year and over the years.

To the students, I say, THANK YOU as we have grown together a little bit of each of you will always be with me.  Always strive to be the BEST that you can be and remember to always be KIND!

To the parents, I say THANK YOU for allowing me to be your child's principal.  It has been a wonderful and rewarding experience for me working at SB-L.  I have come to know you and your families and I will cherish the memories that were made.
