BASIC

Before and After School Innovative Childcare

Purpose: The Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community School Before and After School Innovative Child Care (BASIC) program is designed to serve students K-5th grade.

  • Primarily be child care with opportunities for recreational and enrichment activities: tutoring, developing peer relationships, rest and relaxation times, arts and crafts, dramatic play, story-telling, etc.
  • Fill a parent need for before and after school child care.

Time of Operation

  1. The program is open from 6:30 until 8:20 a.m. and 3:20 until 6:00 p.m.
  2. On days that school is scheduled to be dismissed early, the program will open at dismissal time and run until 6:00 p.m. If the early out is due to weather BASIC closes one hour after the dismissal time.
  3. On days that school is scheduled to start late, the program opens based on the announced delay and will run until school starts.
    Parents/Guardians must contact BASIC in advance if their child was not previously enrolled for BASIC, but will need to attend the program due to the late start.
  4. BASIC will not be open for any non school days (i.e., holiday breaks, teacher work days, etc.).

Late Start - BASIC opens at 8:30

Early Out - BASIC closes 1 hr after early release time.
